In a recent series of interviews, former President Donald Trump once again made bold assertions about his alleged heroic actions in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. But as usual, his grandiose tales found no concrete evidence.

The earliest confirmed sighting of Trump near the site was on September 13, when he gave interviews claiming he had over 100 workers helping out.

However, during a Fox News interview with Trey Gowdy, Trump claimed, "I was building a building in New York, and I had a lot of construction workers. And I went down there very shortly thereafter, the following day - couldn't go down the same day - but the following day. Very quickly afterwards. And we worked long and hard."

Not surprisingly, fact-checkers have found no proof to support his claims of bringing hundreds of workers to aid in the recovery efforts. Trump also regaled attendees at a September 8 event with a story of firefighters carrying him to safety when the nearby One Liberty Plaza started to creak.

"We thought it was coming down on top of us, and two firemen, big strong guys - I'm not the smallest guy in the world - they grabbed me under the arm, said, 'Got to get out of here,' and they literally lifted me up," he boasted.

Again, no corroborating accounts have surfaced to back up this narrative. While there are accounts of evacuations due to fears of the building collapsing, none specifically mention Trump's presence or his alleged rescue by firefighters.

As the nation reflects on the tragic events of 9/11, it is crucial to differentiate between verified facts and unsubstantiated claims, even when they come from prominent figures.

As we honor the true heroes and victims of that tragic day, and separate fact from fiction, we marvel at how a narcissist like Trump can manage to somehow even make the 9/11 tragedy about himself!

But he did, and that's the tragedy of our times.
